I’ll just say this: you don’t go to see Pink Panther movies for their cinematographic value, you go to see a lot of people make fools of themselves, because it’s funny. And they make fun of the French, and that’s always funny. And the Pink Panther 2 satisfies on all accounts, with an all-star cast of Steve Martin (famous funny banjo player), John Cleese (funny British chap who doesn’t play the banjo), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Indian hottie who’s now married and therefore of little significance), Alfred Molina (Doc Ock/judgmental Frenchman from Chocolat) Andy Garcia (Italian mafia boss), Johnny Hallyday (French singer who is friend of Bono, King of Ireland), Jean Reno (the only manly Frenchman aside from Johnny Hallyday), Emily Mortimer (gold digger from 30 Rock) and most importantly, Jeremy Irons (brother of Severus Snape who gets killed by Bruce Willis the Armageddon dude). It amazes me that such amazing talent would volunteer (for a price of course) to make fools of themselves on the silver screen and perpetuate stereotypes about certain nationalities. Believe me, they went easy on the French this time-actually, that’s not true either. Then again, I guess it’s better than starring in Street Fighter. Anyway, the movie’s a lot of fun to watch, and if you want to see Jeremy Irons in white horseman pants (read equestrian britches), this is most definitely the movie for you.
