Man v. Food

is possibly the greatest show ever. It is a combination of two of my favorite things: travel and ridiculous portions of food. Each episode, the host Adam Richman goes to a different city in the United States and tries one of the city’s most famous eating challenges, you know, those 72 oz. steaks or 7 pound breakfast burritos, those kinds of things. The show also shows some of the city’s other great pig-out joints and some ridiculously delicious-looking foods. You can literally feel your arteries clog as Adam tries a 3-pound plate of chili fries made up of 2 pounds of fries and one pound of cheese. And Adam eats it all. It is food porn at its best. I went into a food coma for 5 hours after watching 2 and a half episodes in a row. I’m not even joking. It’s that good.

The show airs on the Travel Channel (The best channel for a show like this) and the second season begins this week on August 5th. I honestly think that if this gets the attention that it deserves, they should take the show internationally, although I suppose that other countries don’t put quite the emphasis on eating challenges as we do. But I’m sure that would be quite fun. If he’s not interested I’d be more than willing to volunteer myself for the global edition of Man v. Food. Sounds glorious.

Also, Adam graduated with a degree in International Studies from Emory University. I think this is actually the most awesome career path an International Studies major can take. Hmm…
